Flying the Flag for an Iconic Historic Event

2017 marks 800 years since the Battle of Lincoln – one of the most influential events in English history.

The battle meant that the invading French forces were repelled and the young King Henry III held on to the throne. With Henry as King, the iconic Magna Carta, seen by many as the blueprint for democracy across the world, was re-issued in November 1217 alongside a complementary charter: the Charter of the Forest.

The fighting took place in and around Lincoln Castle, Lincoln Cathedral, Bailgate area and Steep Hill.

At Your Print Partner we were delighted to be asked to provide printed bunting and medieval-styled flags to help decorate these historic city streets.

We produced hundreds of metres of bunting and bespoke flags, printed in the official campaign colours and made-to-measure, which are now on show in uphill Lincoln.

A free marketing toolkit has been launched for local businesses to help them spread the word about the celebrations and make the most of the opportunities presented by large numbers of visitors and tourists. The toolkit can be downloaded from Visit Lincoln here.

A whole host of celebrations and events will be taking place in the city during the Summer, from medieval banquets and battle re-enactments to the much anticipated Knights’ Trail, which will see 36 very special sculptures, painted by local artists, positioned in key locations throughout Lincoln.

Your Print Partner has its very own Knight, painted by artist Deven Bhurke, and you might just recognise him…

‘Lincoln Green’ is inspired of course by the heroic Robin Hood and his famous green coloured dyed woollen outfit, made in Lincoln. As well as bringing a sense of adventure to the Knights’ Trail, it is hoped that the design will help promote homelessness issues and remind us that through good deeds we can help those less fortunate than ourselves.

The Knights’ Trail begins on Saturday 20th May. The locations of the sculptures, including Robin, have now been revealed and can be viewed online here.

Our Knight is on Tour!

England’s most famous outlaw is on tour!

Your Print Partner is very proud to be a sponsor of the upcoming Lincoln Knights’ Trail, and delighted to say that we have our very own Knight… the one and only Robin Hood.

Our Knight, created by talented artist Deven Bhurke, was unveiled along with the other 35 designs at a dazzling media reception at The Showroom in Lincoln two weeks ago.

He is now standing proudly in the reception at YPP HQ, ready to go out with our team and visit a number of locations and tourist attractions across Lincolnshire before taking residence in his position in the Bailgate area of Lincoln for opening of the trail in May.

Yesterday he visited the very first destination in his tour, Rand Farm Park. The park offers a fantastic family day out, offering children the opportunity to discover about farming, with fun outdoor attractions, indoor play and animal hands-on experiences.

Of course Robin headed straight for the Archery experience at the park, showing off his skills with the bow and arrow!

“We’ve had a fantastic response from people already about the design of our Knight, in particular from children who really love Robin Hood” said Managing Director Stuart Maclaren. “I’d like to thank Rand Farm Park for their wonderful hospitality and help yesterday, and look forward to introducing more people to Robin and the rest of the Knights’ Trail over the coming weeks”.

You can follow Robin on his tour with pictures and updates on his official Twitter page @TheRobinKnight or on our Your Print Partner Instagram page.

If you are interested in having Robin visit your school, workplace or organisation before the start of the Knights’ Trail, please feel free to contact Chris at or call 01522 878787.

The Design of our Sponsored Knight is Revealed

After much anticipation, we are delighted to be able to finally reveal the design of our Knight for the Lincoln Knights’ Trail.

He’s everyone’s favourite heroic outlaw, who robbed from the rich and gave to the poor… Introducing Robin Hood, aka ‘Lincoln Green’, from artist Deven Bhurke.

The design features the final verse from a poem written by John Keats in 1820, which includes the line “Honour to the Lincoln green!”, on the Knight’s shield.

Lincoln in the Middle Ages was a prosperous and thriving city, and perhaps most famous of the city’s wares were its beautifully coloured and highly prized textiles, with one shade in particular very popular: Lincoln Green. They produced this shade by dyeing the cloth with woad (Isatis tinctoria) to give it a strong blue, then overdyeing it yellow with weld (Reseda luteola) or dyers’ broom, Genista tinctoria. The colour since became synonymous with the stories of Robin Hood and his Merry Men.

At Your Print Partner, we have continued that Lincoln tradition of producing brightly coloured textiles — however nowadays we prefer to use inks and digital UV printers!

All thirty six Knights were unveiled in full to guests and the media for the very first time in a special launch event at The Showroom in Lincoln this week.

The hand-painted sculptures will form part of a special trail through the city, marking the 800th anniversary of the Battle of Lincoln and the sealing of the Charter of the Forest, between May 20 and September 3.

More information about the Knights’ Trail can be found on the official website

We will be taking our sponsored Knight on tour before the beginning of the Trail in May, so for updates follow our Team YPP Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages (#LincolnGreen)

Our 2017 so far…

2017 has arrived and it’s been an incredibly busy start to the year for the team at Your Print Partner – but we’ve still got big plans ahead! Here’s some highlights…

The YPP Hub

We’ve now officially moved into our new HQ in Lincoln. The new site on Pyke Road, off Doddington Road, has over three times more production and warehouse space than we had in our previous building, as well as extra recreational facilities and spaces to meet with clients.

Four new state-of-the-art print machines were also installed this week, making us the UK’s largest fabric printer by capacity.

Trade Shows

We’ve got a full calendar of trade shows booked for the first few months of 2017.

Thanks to our investment in new machinery, we’ve been able to develop a whole new product range of exhibition systems & stretch fabric which we are excited to be able to showcase at a number of different events this year.

Last month we exhibited at the Lincolnshire Business Expo and the Promotional Product Expo at the Ricoh Arena. You can visit #TeamYPP at the following upcoming shows:

• Printwear & Promotion Live, Birmingham NEC, 26th – 28th February

• Sign & Digital UK, Birmingham NEC, 28th – 30th March

PRINT 2017

We’ve kicked off the year with our new campaign PRINT 2017, a colourful campaign to highlight our specialism in digital print and branding.

We are pleased to say we have just released our trade brochure for 2017. With a fresh new design and plenty of insight into YPP, plus new products and exhibition solutions, it is our most exciting collection to date. We’ll be sending out copies soon and publishing online as well.

Have you noticed the appearance of #TeamYPP recently? This is more than just a hashtag for us, it’s a new way to celebrate all that’s happening within the company this year.

Our team is our greatest asset as a business. The workforce at YPP is made up of talented people with a hugely diverse range of skills, from graphic designers to seamstresses, with a great deal of experience in print and event management. It is how we can offer a truly end to end service.

At YPP, we want to be more than a supplier. We want to be a partner.

Our team is always growing too. Following our move to the new HQ, we will soon be joined by 10 new members of staff. We will also be opening up our factory on a number of days this year, inviting clients to come and learn more about the print process and see how our products are made.

We will be updating our social media pages regularly with our latest events, offers and news, so don’t forget to check our Facebook, Twitter and new Instagram profile (search for ‘yourprintpartner’).

Behind the Scenes of our New HQ

We’ve now officially moved into our new HQ in Lincoln, having just this week installed four new state-of-the-art large format printers to join the nine we already had in operation.

This was an exciting moment for all of us at YPP, so we invited a camera crew to join us for a day to watch the arrival of the new machines and film the team in action.

You can view the video on Youtube here, and don’t forget to subscribe to our channel as we will be adding more videos soon, featuring some of our new products as well as some helpful branding tips and information.

Lincs Business Expo 2017

Last week Your Print Partner exhibited at its very first trade exhibition of 2017, the Lincolnshire Business Expo.

The event saw more than 1,300 business representatives come together at the Lincolnshire Showground on January 18.

More than 90 businesses from Greater Lincolnshire showcased their products and services throughout the day.

We premiered our ‘Print 2017’ campaign at the event, showcasing the best and brightest in large-format digital print. On our stand you could find printed roller banners, deck chairs, cubes, feather flags and Impact pop-out displays – all designed as part of a colourful festival theme.

35 guests also took to the stage to speak at 25 different events taking place inside the venue, including our Managing Director Stuart Maclaren. Stuart was invited by the Institute of Directors to speak to talk about our recent expansion at YPP and the potential pitfalls and opportunities for businesses following the Brexit vote.

“This expo is the largest B2B event in Lincolnshire, and it’s a pleasure to be exhibiting and sponsoring for another year” said YPP Managing Director Stuart Maclaren. “We’ve invested a great deal in our production capabilities at our new HQ in Lincoln, and this was a chance to show just what we can offer to the business community in our home county”.

Christmas Opening Hours & New HQ Update

Your Print Partner will soon be closing for Christmas, and when we re-open in the New Year we will have moved into our brand new HQ in Lincoln.

The company will close on Thursday 22nd December 2016 at 5.00pm and re-open for business on Monday 9th January 2017 at 9.00am.

Work has been underway for months redeveloping the site of our new building, which will house new sales and accounting offices, a new design studio and photography suite, meeting rooms, two product showrooms, staff recreational facilities and over three times as much production and warehouse space as the current company HQ.

Our new address in January will be: Your Print Partner, Pyke Road, Lincoln, LN6 3QS.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers, suppliers, family and friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We look forward to welcoming you to our new home!

It’s our 5th Birthday!

Today marks exactly five years since Your Print Partner was founded.

YPP was established in 2011 by Stuart Maclaren. Having noticed that the ‘major players’ in the large-format print industry were outsourcing jobs to suppliers in Eastern Europe and China, he made it his mission to bring print and manufacture back to the UK.

The company began as a ‘trade-only’ supplier, with Stuart acting as a broker to source UK-printed products for his clients. When demand took off, he took a risk and invested in a large-format digital printer and new premises so that the company could begin printing in-house.

Sales quickly increased and Stuart was soon able to invest in new staff, new machinery and new product development to grow his business.

Fast forward five years, and the company now operates with nine large-format print machines and has outgrown it’s current 8,000 sq ft HQ. Later this month YPP will be moving to a new 21,000 sq ft building in Lincoln.

We’d like to thank all our customers, suppliers, friends and family who’ve been with us on this journey so far. Here’s to the next five years and beyond!

A New Home for Your Print Partner

Your Print Partner has strengthened its reputation as the UK’s fastest growing large-format print company by announcing today it’s purchase of new larger headquarters in Lincoln.

The new 21,000 sq ft premises, set on a 1.05 acre site on Pyke Road, will house new sales and accounting offices, a new design studio and photography suite, meeting rooms, two product showrooms, staff recreational facilities and over three times as much production and warehouse space as the current company HQ.

“Our core business for printed outdoor marketing products and point-of-sale material is expanding rapidly and we wanted to ensure we could meet this exciting challenge quickly” said Managing Director Stuart Maclaren (seen above accepting the keys from Tim Gutteridge of Lambert Smith Hampton).

Further Investment

With the purchase of the new building comes additional investment in machinery. The company plans to invest a further £400,000 this Winter on the installation of new generation LED-UV print machines.

Included in the list of new machines is an LED-UV flatbed inkjet printer, for direct printing on to thick substrates. This new machine will enable the company to add custom printed signage and rigid retail displays to its product range.

“We recorded our strongest sales figures ever last year, whilst also increasing profitability” said Mclaren. “This year sales are up by 43% and we want to carry that momentum forwards into our new home”.

New Brands

The new building will also house a dedicated production suite for the company’s new Christmas brand, ‘The Santa Sacks Co.’ and extra facilities for a new personalised gifts brand set to be launched early next year.

Five new permanent jobs are also set to be created, to join the 22 members of staff already at the firm, once it becomes fully operational at the new site in 4-5 weeks time.

“We’ve always set ourselves ambitious targets for growth, since the company was established in 2011” said Maclaren. “It’s testament to the hard work and skill of our team that we have been able to hit those targets, and I can’t wait to open this fantastic new HQ.”

Building improvements and re-development of the warehouse and production space will be taking place at the site over the coming weeks. We will be providing further information and confirmation of our ‘moving day’ soon.

Thousands Flock to the All-New Lincoln Half Marathon

What a day! The Lincoln Half Marathon took place on Sunday, with thousands taking to the streets to take on the 13.1 mile challenge and raise money for charity.

Matthew Bowser crossed the finish line first with a time of 1 hr 8 mins, with Abbie Donnelly the fastest female, finishing with a time of 1 hr 24 mins.

YPP was the Official Branding Partner to the Lincoln Half Marathon, so we decided to set up our very own Supporters Zone to cheer all the runners on.

Our team joined the army of volunteers and event staff in the early hours of the morning to decorate our area of the course, positioned along the Brayford Waterfront, with feather flags, printed balloons and 200m of digitally printed aero banner.

“I’d like to congratulate all the finishers and thank all those who turned up to show their support on what was a beautiful day in Lincoln” said YPP Managing Director Stuart Maclaren, who was on-site supervising a section of course that ran through the city.

“I’d also like to share our thanks to all the volunteers and the team at OSB Events for organising a terrific event. Bring on next year’s!”.

We printed cheering cards to distribute to supporters on the day, with a humourous message on one side and space for a hand-written message on the reverse for all those with friends and family taking part.

“We knew we would be based at around the halfway mark, which can be a bit of a killer moment in a race, so we decided to go out there with positive messages for all those running” said Design Manager Chris Cheeseman. “Hopefully we managed to make a few of you smile!”.

Full race results can be found online here.

The official charity partners of the Lincoln Half Marathon were Cancer Research UK and local charity the Ethan Maull ‘Up yours to Cancer ‘ Foundation, which is raising money for Ethan’s House, a home for families to stay in while loved ones are receiving treatment.

Get Ready for the Lincoln Half!

It’s just two days now until 4,000 runners take to the streets of Lincoln for the very first Lincoln Half Marathon.

The 13.1 mile route, which begins at the Lincolnshire Showground, will take runners into uphill Lincoln, passing the famous Cathedral, through the grounds of the Castle, before heading along the beautiful Brayford waterfront and then back to the Showground.

Your Print Partner is the Official Branding Partner to the Lincoln Half Marathon.

We’ve been busy in the last few weeks producing all the street branding and feather flags to decorate the course. We will also have our very own suppport team on the course, positioned along the Brayford waterfront, cheering the runners on.

We will be handing out free cheering cards to supporters, so if you’d like to write a message for any of your friends or relatives taking part then please feel free to collect one from a member of our team.

It is hoped that hundreds of thousands of pounds will be raised from the event for the Ethan Maull Up Yours to Cancer Foundation, to offer a home in Lincoln where families with children fighting cancer can stay while youngsters receive treatment.

This new event will take centre stage during Lincolnshire Weekend, and is expected to give the city’s economy a £2 million boost.

All the essential event details can be found here.
